Power Armor is a vital tool for surviving the harsh Wasteland of Fallout 76. It provides superior protection against enemies and the environment. However, there will be times when you’ll want to get out of power armor to be more agile or conserve Fusion Cores. Luckily, the process is simple.
Exiting Your Power Armor
When you’re ready to ditch the bulky armor, head over to a Power Armor Station. These stations are scattered throughout the Wasteland and can be found at various settlements, your C.A.M.P., and even some random locations.
Using the Power Armor Station
Once you’re at a Power Armor Station, simply approach the empty suit frame. You’ll see an option to “Enter” or “Exit” the Power Armor. Since you’re already suited up, you’ll want to select “Exit”.
Holding the Action Button (Optional)
On PC, you can also hold down the “E” key when standing next to your Power Armor to exit directly. This is a faster method if you’re not worried about accidentally entering another suit. The equivalent buttons are “A” on Xbox and “X” on Playstation.
Automatic Recall
Here’s a handy feature: If you stray too far from your exited Power Armor (usually after 10-15 seconds), it will automatically be recalled to your inventory. This prevents you from accidentally leaving your powerful armor behind.
Leaving Power Armor in the Open World
Be cautious when exiting Power Armor outside of a Power Armor Station. If another player comes along, they can technically claim your empty Power Armor chassis for themselves. This won’t affect the armor pieces you were wearing, but they’ll need their own Fusion Core to use the frame in Fallout 76.
Tips for Exiting Power Armor Strategically
- Consider your surroundings: If you’re about to enter a peaceful area or trade with another player, exiting your Power Armor can be a good idea. It will make you more mobile and less intimidating.
- Manage your Fusion Cores: Fusion Cores are the power source for Power Armor. If you’re running low, exiting your Power Armor can help conserve energy.
- Plan your exit strategy: Think ahead before leaving your Power Armor. Make sure you’re in a safe location or have alternative means of defense readily available.
